For those of us who have top of the range speakers mounted on a piece of metal furniture fitted with spikes, at many times we have found ourselves faced with the laborious task of trying to change their position for whatever reason.

For example, imagine we are quite unhappy about the way the sound is coming from our speakers in their present position in our listening room, or we want to make some connection or other at the back, or, after 6 months without having been moved, we simply wish to clean and dust the floor on which they are standing.

To date, the majority of us had no other alternative but to place 4 coins on the floor and to position the 4 metal furniture spikes on which the speakers stand onto these in order to avoid producing 4 holes on the wooden floor in our listening room.

This is an excellent solution if our intention is to condemn the speakers to remain where they are positioned, however, if we have to move them for any of the aforementioned reasons, we find ourselves having to undertake a slow and bothersome operation.

Changing the orientation, or moving the position of the speakers, in order for them to sound perfectly to our liking in our listening room requires a lot of patience and physical effort if our speakers stand on spikes and these in turn lie on coins placed on the floor.

This no longer needs to be the case. By placing the speakers on our Rolling Spikes, moving or changing the position of 60 kg speakers, such as those seen in these website photos, both for short distances, as well as for those situations requiring their moving from one side of the room to the other, we can move them with the simple, minimal force employed by a three-fingered push.

The speaker is totally stable. Notwithstanding, if we are working on rather uneven floors one of the spikes must be screwed down in order to fully stabilise the base with respect to the floor.

And most importantly of all, an essential feature of the rolling spike is that it respects 100% the functional purpose of the spikes, which is to exercise a great weight over a small surface area in order to insulate the speakers as much as possible and avoid the transfer of vibrations.

For those of us who keep our music equipment in a piece of metal furniture, the 4 feet of which are fitted with spikes, the Rolling Spikes are also an excellent solution when it comes to moving it forward in order to gain comfortable and speedy access to its rear for connections that we might wish to make.

A piece of furniture with equipment weighing a total of 192 kg can be moved forward with great ease and practically without any physical effort.

The idea for the Rolling Spikes arose from the need of having to regularly move PMC AB-2 speakers in a listening room in Madrid back in 2003.
I began to make the first prototypes at that time.

This invention, the worldwide patent of which is currently being processed, basically consists of a round steel body with a conic hole at its centre. This hole, positioned in the centre of the top, is wide enough to house all spike and coupling cone diameters on the market.

Each Rolling Spike has three complex bearings with a main steel ball at their centre and thirty-four small balls inside, which interact with the main ball. This type of complex bearing is known as a transfer ball.

Three of these bearings are housed in the bottom part of the device in order to facilitate the movement, over hard surfaces, of the entire unit in all directions.

A Rolling Spike can withstand a maximum weight of 60 kg.

Consequently, with a set of 4 units we will be able to move a speaker or a piece of furniture housing audio equipment up to a weight of 240 kg. More than enough for an excellent set of CLASS A equipment.

Rolling Spikes can be bought in kits of 4 units, or separately.
